Day one hundred and sixty four

Wow. So I was all signed up for Bikram tonight but this afternoon I wasn’t up for it at all. Which was a major disappointment. I practiced all of the standing poses and some of the floor poses, I mixed some randoms in a little throughout, at home. Its not like getting into the hot room but it is still yoga and is still worthwhile.
On another note I heard on NPR that it’s Elvis’ 78th birthday. They celebrated by sharing the recipe for the Elvis Milkshake and wow! Sounds insane. It is banana, peanut butter, vanilla ice cream, chopped up bacon (cooked of course), some bacon fat (chilled) and bourbon! I can hardly believe that that combination of goodness was combined! Someday maybe I’ll be able to try some but only some like a third of a cup.

Today I got to walk in the sun. The days are lengthening even though the sun set around 3:40.



I am still reading The Science of Yoga…I really want to get it through it. It’s full of all kinds of great information but for some reason it’s hard to get through. It has informed me that “There is no such thing as a Registered Yoga Therapist” p. 152 Apparently there is no over arching body governing how one becomes a Registered Yoga Therapist (RYT), it’s a little bit of anything goes so just be careful out there.

I have challenged myself to do yoga everyday for one year and thought I'd blog about it. I have been practicing yoga on and off and back and forth for about 9 years and I have decided that it is time for me to really delve in and figure out what it's all about, if it is something I want to make part of my life. I also thought this might put some discipline in to my day and be a fun way to express my thoughts and share some pictures that may or may not have anything directly to do with yoga.

  1. I just read “How Yoga Works” it’s the yoga sutra explained through an engaging (fictional) story. But the info is legit. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot.

    You should have gone to class anyway. There’ve been days I was sure I’d die before I even got there, then ended up having an awesome class. And other days I’ve walked in feeling totally solid, only to find myself taking a 90min nap at 105 degrees. I love that about the hot room.
