Day one hundred and forty four

late evening Bikram class = sleepy me. We got our teacher back! And I learned something about full locust (salabhasana). It’s one of those things that you hear each time but maybe never listen. Right before the end of the pose the dialog is ‘on an exhale lift up another inch’. I’m pretty sure that until tonight I’ve heard those words but have been lifting on an inhale. It feels counterintuitive to lift on an exhale. It feels natural to inhale and let that expansion lift you up. Apparently that’s wrong, today we learned that the exhale creates more room in the chest cavity therefore allowing the spine to move more freely. Like an extended slinky being bounced opposed to attempting to bend one that is tightly stacked. I tried it the correct way and it was confusing, my body did not seem to agree with what my brain was trying to have it do. Next time!

My friend is chicken sitting. The chickens live in a little coop with Christmas lights on it in a back yard. She brought me one dozen eggs! That’s 12, not a baker’s dozen which is 13.

The wild eggs (or urban I should say) are on the left and the Costco cage free are on the right. I’ve never had non store bought eggs! Apparently you have to wash the poop off before cracking them.
Namaste!

I have challenged myself to do yoga everyday for one year and thought I'd blog about it. I have been practicing yoga on and off and back and forth for about 9 years and I have decided that it is time for me to really delve in and figure out what it's all about, if it is something I want to make part of my life. I also thought this might put some discipline in to my day and be a fun way to express my thoughts and share some pictures that may or may not have anything directly to do with yoga.
