Day one hundred and forty two

Well my day did not go as planned… This was due to some sever menstrual cramps (sorry none ladies but this shit happens) that came on around 9am. I didn’t do anything for a while except curl up with a heating pad. Major holiday buzz kill. I don’t know how single moms or lady astronauts deal. If I had a child to take care of or was up in space today I’m really not sure what would have happened, I was utterly useless and rather pathetic for several hours. I looked in my book “Yoga for Wellness” for a practice that helps with cramps and didn’t find too much. I read about how activity is good to keep things moving and all that but honesty that was not going to happen. I found a short sequence that focuses on moving the abdominal area and gently stretching it.
The first pose is Apanasana, several breaths while moving the knees in and out from the body. Then Cakravakasana, this is like cat/cow only the cat turns into child’s pose, several breaths inhaling to cow and exhaling into child’s. Followed by Pitham, which I would say us a low bridge pose, inhale up and exhale down. Then some supported Savasana , legs on a chair or Supta Baddha Konasana, lie on the back with heels together knees towards floor
I did these with some downdogs, twists and forward folds thrown in. All without the tv on, I instead had a nice candle low lights and Christmas music (which I know isn’t for everyone but I enjoy it)!
Later this happened. I recommend any hot toddy enthusiasts give it a try.

Then many cookies were made like these peanut butter kisses!

I have challenged myself to do yoga everyday for one year and thought I'd blog about it. I have been practicing yoga on and off and back and forth for about 9 years and I have decided that it is time for me to really delve in and figure out what it's all about, if it is something I want to make part of my life. I also thought this might put some discipline in to my day and be a fun way to express my thoughts and share some pictures that may or may not have anything directly to do with yoga.
