Day one hundred and thirty nine

I may be in kind of a bad habit. I have a tendency to put a show on via Netflix while I do yoga. It’s always something I’ve seen so I’m not paying complete attention but still. I do this because the show is around 25 minutes and that is about how much time I have when doing a living room yoga session. I feel a little guilty about this. I actually wasn’t going to include this little fact but then I felt bad about not being honest. This isn’t every time, but often enough for me to question it. I still do yoga and feel good afterwards but I feel it’s better to not have a screen accompanying my practice. Maybe it’s partly a motivation thing, it can be hard to get motivated at home alone in a cozy house with a tv staring you down…
I get less out of the yoga because I’m distracted as well as less out of watching a funny show because I’m partially trying to ignore
it. This will have to stop.

I have challenged myself to do yoga everyday for one year and thought I'd blog about it. I have been practicing yoga on and off and back and forth for about 9 years and I have decided that it is time for me to really delve in and figure out what it's all about, if it is something I want to make part of my life. I also thought this might put some discipline in to my day and be a fun way to express my thoughts and share some pictures that may or may not have anything directly to do with yoga.

  1. You are honest that is the best part and shows that yoga is working for you. The most important thing is not to be too hard on yourself . One of the improtant things about yoga is to be kind and gentle to yourself. I would suggest putting a nice blanket a plain white or a disign sheet over the tv screen and may be some meditation music as you do yoga. Another option is to challenge your mind to count your breaths in and out and see how many until distraction hits again and again. Ind any case, you are doing Yoga and once the physical practice helps the mind will start to follow. Have fun. Keep doign yoga.

  2. Maybe it’s time to go to a class or something and change up the setting? Or outdoor snow-ga?
