EARTHQUAKE!!!
Wow! One of my fears came true today (it wasn’t bad though, not at all but it still happened). I was about done with an acupuncture appointment with my mom when it started. I always thought it would be scary to be stuck up with needles durring a big earthquake. It started and at first I was like ‘oh it’ll stop in a second, no need for alarm’, we’re used to the earth shaking in these parts. But it did not stop! Not for a while. Long enough for for me to yell ‘MOM’ and for her and my sister to run in. She started pulling out needles while we were shaking like crazy! I must have looked horrified because my sister started comforting me and telling me to be still while mom got the needles out. It was still shaking once I was up and of the table. My sister was like ‘we should go outside!’, but I was like ‘no it’s safer inside’, so I put on my coat thinking that was at least something. It finally slowed and we so excited and unnerved that we couldn’t quite tell if it was over.
It was a 5.75 magnitude, 27 miles west of Anchorage about 32 miles deep. I believe it was likely the Castle Mountain Fault. This fault daylights east of Anchorage and is complex and active. The following link is to a pretty good article about the frequency that this fault produces large scale earthquakes and it seems that we’re due for another…

I then went to a 75 minute Traditional Hot yoga class. I was lucky to get in on such late notice. It was nice, cutting 15 minutes out really makes for a different paced class. I’d like to work on being less distracted while in poses as well as in between them.
