Day one hundred and eight

Finally had a class that I wasn’t totally distracted about everyday life in. Even though thoughts came in I was able to let them go and not fixate on them. Maybe it helped that the class was an hour Hotflow. I didn’t know what pose was next so I couldn’t anticipate the next move. It was also fast paced so there was less time being still to think about packing and traveling and how I won’t be in the studio for almost two weeks! It was an awesome class and it kicked my ass! I’ve recovered and feel pretty great.
It turned into a foggy afternoon here near the coast. This suited me fine because I had some inside chores and wanted to drink coffee and read.

I wanted to look into what yoga is and where it comes from. There are so many different kinds of classes out there and I know there are different branches of yoga. In my searching I found a journal that I was keeping a couple of winters ago while attending a one credit yoga class at UAA. The teacher was very good. This notebook is a mix of the material handed out by the teacher, stuff I remembered from class and notes I took from reading parts of the book ‘Yoga for Wellness’.

This is the first fun fact I came across.

Asana means “seat”, literally to sit. There are 84 main asanas. 2 of the 84 are considered the highest. These are:
Shirshasana-headstand
and
Padmasana-lotus

It’s so weird reading journal type writings from years ago, or any time ago really. I’ll probably feel weird looking back on this blog someday too.

I have challenged myself to do yoga everyday for one year and thought I'd blog about it. I have been practicing yoga on and off and back and forth for about 9 years and I have decided that it is time for me to really delve in and figure out what it's all about, if it is something I want to make part of my life. I also thought this might put some discipline in to my day and be a fun way to express my thoughts and share some pictures that may or may not have anything directly to do with yoga.
