Day eighty six

This was another day where I must thank yoga. I felt kind of sickly before class and almost didn’t go. It was also a beautiful day and going outside wouldn’t have been a terrible alternative. So I went to Bikram with the mindset that I don’t have to do any of the poses if I’m not up for them. Surprise surprise I made it through them all and felt good afterwards.

What pose is next….?

Cobra Pose
Ahhh yes cobra. I do very much like this one, it is tricky but I think I am figuring it out.

Benefits :
Cobra Pose strengthens the lumber spine, relieving pain and combating slipped or herniated discs, scoliosis and arthritis in that region.

Other important benefits include improved digestion, relief from menstrual disorders, improved appetite, and raising low blood pressure.

Cobra Pose also improves the functioning of the liver and spleen.

It is amazing how good and strong my back has been feeling. I have had some lower back troubles. The last time I hurt it was in a deep stretch class back in July, I went into a pose and when I realized I’d gone too far it was too late. I couldn’t stand up straight for days and sitting was agonizing. Gradually I began to feel better and found myself thinking about Bikram. I hadn’t been attending Bikram at thas point. I had in the past and had liked it but had also drawn away from it. I felt like it was too rigid and not what I wanted in a yoga practice. But it drew me back because I knew I could count on it to be safe for my back as there are no surprises. The same pose I hurt myself in in July (fixed firm) I can now do and enjoy.

Good night.

I have challenged myself to do yoga everyday for one year and thought I'd blog about it. I have been practicing yoga on and off and back and forth for about 9 years and I have decided that it is time for me to really delve in and figure out what it's all about, if it is something I want to make part of my life. I also thought this might put some discipline in to my day and be a fun way to express my thoughts and share some pictures that may or may not have anything directly to do with yoga.
