Day twentyfour

Look at me keeping up with posting a new post everyday!

I went to Bikram just like I planned and what a good decision that was! I was in such a mind and body funk going into it and now I feel amazing! The other week I read something in the Science of Yoga by William J. Broad about Bikram and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. Mr. Bikram has quite the attitude about his style of yoga. Broad quotes him as saying “So many Americans, ruin their bodies by blindly running around ‘exercising’ and playing sports. I tell my students, ‘No barbells, no dumbbells, no racket.’ Games are okay for children, for recreation and to teach them sportsmanship. But after that, you must give up trying to put  a little ball in a hole all the time.” (pp. 47,48)

Come on! How serious can you get…no games!?

Broad also quotes him as saying, when referring to other styles of yoga, “Bogus yoga” ( p. 48).

Harsh! But maybe the man knows what he’s talking about… I will try and find out.

I have challenged myself to do yoga everyday for one year and thought I'd blog about it. I have been practicing yoga on and off and back and forth for about 9 years and I have decided that it is time for me to really delve in and figure out what it's all about, if it is something I want to make part of my life. I also thought this might put some discipline in to my day and be a fun way to express my thoughts and share some pictures that may or may not have anything directly to do with yoga.
